Most major airlines fly to Paris. From there you can
take Air France's domestic line to Marseille (45 minutes from
Puyvert by car). From Canada, Air Transat has direct flights
to Marseille in summer months. Alternatives are to pick up
your rental car in Paris and drive down (about eight hours)
or the take the Train de Grand Vitesse from the Gare de Lyon
to Avignon, and pick up a car there. In Europe many lines
fly directly to Nice (a two hour drive to Puyvert) or to Marseille.
Locally.......
Public transportation, by bus or rail, is good between the
larger centers of Provence, and often surprisingly good between
villages and cities such as Avignon, Aix and Marseille (at
least one bus in the morning and one back in the late afternoon).
For exploring the countryside, visiting sites of interest,
shopping in other villages or small towns and generally getting
around without too much loss of time, a car is recommended.
The most economical arrangement for a stay of three weeks
or more is to rent a car on a lease-back plan from a company
such as Renault. This can be arranged through your travel
agent.
